Hello Roth Families,What an excellent weather week we have had so far. Seeing the leaves change and watching the cloudless sky from the inside of Roth has been beautiful. This time of the year is wonderful.
Families, it is my hope that students are reporting to you that they are feeling more comfortable with Roth’s academic and behavioral expectations now than they did when school opened eight weeks ago. I am grateful for the support and persistence of our wonderful teachers, counselors, administrators and support staff. I am grateful for the partnerships that we are creating with so many of you. All in an effort to teach, motivate and care for our students.
Here are some reminders as we enter another lovely fall weekend.
Student Clubs: WE WANT YOU to join our clubs! When students become involved in clubs, they are more engaged with school. Please click here for Roth Junior High’s student clubs. Student clubs provide an opportunity for students to connect with their peers and our faculty around common interest areas. Clubs also help students to connect and socialize. The majority of Roth clubs meet monthly after school, on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays. For more information about a specific club, please encourage your student to email or contact the advisor directly.
Device Policy: Students will continue to be directed to keep personal devices in their school lockers. Our policy has not changed since we opened. However, the frequency of our reminders has increased this past week. Please help us ensure your student meets our district-wide goal of Unplugging to Connect by having supportive conversations about our cell phone and device policy. Please refer to last week’s E-News to revisit our plea regarding social media and device use.
Code of Conduct Reminder: Similar to our device policy, I am thankful to report that the majority of our students have upheld the expectations and standards of our District Code of Conduct. When a behavior is addressed, it is our expectation that students take accountability and corrective action. We are also aware that adolescents need reminders, and we are patient in this process. Roth JHS has been using a clear and consistent Behavioral Leadership system for minor disciplinary infractions. If you have any questions about the system or our practices, please email me or one of our assistant principals.
School Pics Retake: CLIX will be on campus for pictures (including retakes) Wednesday, October 30. Please click here if you would like your student to retake (and reorder) their school photo.
Visiting Campus: Families are welcome to visit Roth JHS for scheduled meetings with our administrators, counselors or other related staff. When coming into the school, all visitors must enter through the main entrance. A photo ID is required to enter the building. *NOTE: During dismissal, we ask that visitors wait until school buses have loaded and departed. This will help us ensure the safety of and smooth departure for our students. We appreciate your willingness to partner with us to meet your student’s learning, wellness, and safety needs.
10-Week Hope: The end of our 1st Quarter is just two weeks away. Teachers, counselors and our wonderful assistant principals have been working hard with and for our students. Though our standards for academic achievement and conduct are high, we are willing to go above and beyond for our students. We ask that you continue to check SchoolTool. Make it a habit to ask your student about their school day and school experience. Ask about their favorite teachers and staff. Inquire about the classes or space in which they may be struggling. Learn more about their interests, their goals for this year, and their friends. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our team.
Sincerely,
Omar Hussain
Principal
