If You are a Parent Who Wants to Explore Your Use

  • Congratulations if you have chosen to read this page for yourself. It takes a certain amount of personal courage to be willing to take a look at your own issues with mood altering chemicals or compulsive behaviors.

It is not uncommon to feel as if a drug or a behavior is starting to push you around. Have you ever told yourself, "I am not going to eat any chocolate ice cream today."? And for a day you are fine. But then, one day, you just happen to be looking in the fridge, and you reach for the ice cream, telling your self, "One scoop isn't going to kill me!" But then a funny thing happens. You give yourself a second scoop. Then a third. After that you say, "Oh, so what if I have another bowl!" Somehow, that half gallon of chocolate ice cream has your number, and you wound up eating one container instead of one bowl. It is maddening!

The same thing can happen with chemical substances, or behavioral compulsions like gambling. Deep inside, it bothers you and you do not feel right with yourself. You sense it is creating problems for you in your life. You've tried to control yourself, like with the chocolate cake, but it just keeps happening.  Your family may have voiced their concerns to you, and deep down, you know they are right.

Maybe it is time to make a change and do things different than you have in the past. The first step is to listen to that voice within you and let it guide you to get some help. It is time  to do some honest talking with your self and with some one other than yourself.

If you can relate to any of what I am saying feel free to give me a call! Let's have an honest, confidential conversation about your experience. It could really make a big difference for you, your kids, and your entire family. A difference for the better! A better way of life. A better future.
