Rochester's NEWEST bridge is part of the Western Gateway Project. This $37 million project to replace the aging, Interstate 490 bridge over the Genesee River with a triple member steel arch bridge is entering its second stage of construction. Work began in April 2004 to construct the massive concrete foundations, build a new on-ramp connection from Byron St. to I-490 and finish preparation for 2005.
