Chess in Mr. Watts' Classroom
We learned to play one of the oldest games on the planet... Chess!
We also learned that many cultures and regions claimed to have invented the game. Everyone from the Egyptians to the Irish say it was they who invented it.
We play when we can during our work week and the students are still learning the game.
The kids are taught that Chess is a game of intelligence and manners. Every game starts with a handshake and kind words. It's terrific to see them play and every time they do they learn from mistakes and gain new strategies.
Consider buying a chess set if you don't have one and if you don't know how to play why not have your child teach you? You can use the links I have below to help and I have used them to teach the kids.
