A bit about me!
-
I am originally from Orchard Park, N.Y. I graduated from HS in 1992 and am proud to say I have taught some of my former teacher's family members, as well as now starting to teach my former students' children! I think this means I'm getting old! :)
Yes...I will admit that I am both a Sabres and Bills fan...You always have to root for the home team, no matter how they are doing! ;)
Learning, and now teaching, history is a passion of mine. As a child, my grandfather shared stories and experiences during WWII while stationed in Europe. The stories and lives of other people, their experiences, cultures, and religions have intrigued me ever since!
I attended SUNY Fredonia for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. Check out Fredonia's website...I have to put in a plug for my Alma Mater! In my opinion...it is a great school for higher education! My experiences there were priceless and opened many doors for me!
Check out: https://www.suny.edu/campuses/fredonia/My first teaching position was in North Carolina, teaching 7th-grade special education and social studies. It was an amazing experience and I am grateful for the opportunity. But home was calling to me and I took my current position in Rush-Henrietta in 1999.Over the years, I have taught with many incredible teachers! I have had the privilege of teaching both 7th and 8th grade American History while working with the Special Education and ELL departments.
I met my husband at Roth too! We have two beautiful children, a loveable Irish setter-Poodle named Libby, and recently adopted Maisy, a rescue dog from Texas. When I am not too busy being a mom(and all that job implies!) or being a teacher, I spend some of my time camping, hiking, paddle boarding, reading, doing yoga, biking, or just spending quality time outside with family and friends. In addition, I am a member of the Pittsford Board of Education, where we live and where our children attend school.
