About 7th Grade Science

  •

    Hello All!

I'm a 7th grade Science Teacher at Burger Middle School. Thanks for visiting my classroom website to check out what we are up to this year in Science! Feel free to email me at mtesta@rhnet.org if you have any questions or suggestions.

Things you should probably know about me:

I grew up near-by! I lived in Scottsville, NY and went to high school at Wheatland-Chili. Then I went to SUNY Geneseo where I got a Bachelors Degree in Geology and Education. I moved to the east side of Rochester and got my Masters Degree in Literacy at Nazareth College.

I'm a super science geek! I've always thought that everyone should be allowed to be really, un-apologetically excited about something. For me, that's science. For other people that might be sports, or history, or writing, or playing games on the internet.

Things you should probably know about 7th Grade Science

Units! We will be studying all types of science this year: Genetics, Natural Selection, Chemistry, Human Body, Physics, and Ecology.

    Grading! Grades will be divided into three parts: 20% - graded classwork/homework ; 20% - benchmark quizzes ; 60% - unit exams/big projects

Labs! Yes we will be doing lots of labs this year! But no dissecting. There are many labs that are required as part of your 7th grade science coursework. These labs will be kept in a digital portfolio (like this example: https://sites.google.com/rhnet.org/bobby-a-science-labs/home)
